When Chadwick Prodromos, MD, wanted to publish a book on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction to help orthopedic surgeons improve outcomes for every patient, he selected a “dream team” of ACL experts to write the chapters.
Dr. Prodromos is the medical director at the Illinois Orthoapedics and Sports Medicine Centers and an associate professor of orthopaedic surgery at Rush University College of Medicine. He asked K. Donald Shelbourne, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Shelbourne Knee Center, and his practice colleagues to write 6 chapters for Anterior Cruciate Ligament: Reconstruction and Basic Science, 2nd edition (Elsevier, 2018).
Research-Backed Information
Designed to guide orthopedic surgeons and fellows in providing optimal care for ACL patients, the book features the latest clinical and technical information. The six chapters written by Dr. Shelbourne and colleagues are based on 38 years of tracking patient outcomes and studying factors related to those outcomes on more than 7,000 ACL patients.
Dr. Shelbourne uses data from the research program to continually improve care for his patients. He also shares research results in book chapters, journal articles and presentations.

The eBook access includes an ACL database of more than 5,000 articles and enables users to search the text, figures, Q&As and references on a variety of devices.
Dr. Shelbourne and Dr. Benner have had their work and research published in more than 160 medical journal articles and more than 100 book chapters. They frequently share their knowledge through international, national and regional presentations.
