While ACL injuries and knee arthritis are two of the most common knee injuries and conditions, there are many other knee conditions
Arthrofibrosis of The Knee
Arthrofibrosis is the build up of too much scar tissue after a knee injury or surgery. It’s treated with physical therapy or arthroscopic surgery.
Deconditioned Knee
Deconditioned knee happens when you use a painful knee less than the other knee. This reduces the painful knee’s range of motion and strength. Physical therapy is usually effective for deconditioned knee.
Kneecap (Patella) Disorders
When the kneecap (patella) and thighbone don’t fit right, this can cause a kneecap disorder. Treatment depends on the type of kneecap disorder, and usually focuses on physical therapy. Sometimes, surgery is necessary.
Knee Ligament Injuries
Ligaments, rope-like tissue that holds the bones together and keep your knee stable, tear easily. Some ligament tears require arthroscopic surgery to heal. Others can be treated with physical therapy.
Meniscus Tears
Meniscus tears are a common knee injury that can happen from sports injuries or wear and tear. Most heal with physical therapy, but some require arthroscopic surgery.
Tendonitis
Tendonitis of the knee is a common and painful injury to the thick, band-like cord in the knee that attaches a muscle to a bone. It can usually be treated with physical therapy.
