Office Visits and Hospital Charges
Shelbourne Knee Center is part of Community Health Network, a non-profit health system throughout Central Indiana. We are a hospital-based office operating through Community Hospital East.
Our orthopedic surgeons and Community Hospital East have separate contracts with insurance companies. This means the doctor may be covered in your network but the hospital may not be part of your network.
Office visit charges
Your office visit charge will be divided into:
- “Facility” charge, billed from Community Health Network (outpatient services).
- “Professional” charge from Shelbourne Knee Center (with the physicians’ business name).
Other charges will be billed from Community Health as hospital-based services. These charges include:
- X-ray.
- Physical therapy.
- Injections.
- Durable medical equipment (e.g., canes).
Hospital charges
Since our doctors and the hospital have separate contracts with insurance companies, you should find out if both our doctors and and the hospital are part of your network before your visit. This will help you avoid extra charges.
